“Such a Mind As This”
Of the people of Israel, gathered as they were around the ankles of mighty Mount Sinai, humbed and awestruck by the overwhelming array of God’s majesty hovering over the mountain, did God offer this commendation and hope found in Deuteronomy 5:29: Oh that they had such a mind as this always. And oh that I would. And you. You know, that mind that stands fearfully before the holy God of the Heavens and the Earth; that mind that is deeply aware of its own depravity and His own greatness. Oh, if only that were me not just some of the time, when it is convenient, and even rather easy. But all the time. Always. Til the end.
